To denounce the abuses of the city's mayor: Sit-in of the Democratic Union of Local Authorities in front of the Fès commune

An ordinary session of the national council of the Democratic Union of Local Authorities, affiliated with the FDT, will take place next Thursday at the trade and industry complex in Fès. A one-hour protest sit-in will also take place on the same day starting at 11 am in front of the urban commune of the spiritual capital.

For the secretary-general of the said union, Larbi Lakhrim, the choice of Fès is not fortuitous, but was decided by the national bureau unanimously to testify to our solidarity with the staff of the local authorities of this city who, since last June, have been the subject of multiple pressures, arbitrary decisions, and other forms of provocation. It is also a choice of coherence that falls in line with the policy of our central union, which opts for rotating meetings, he insisted on clarifying. The protest sit-in, stresses Mr Lakhrim, was decided to denounce the illegal practices of the city's mayor who had proceeded, a few months ago, to the suspension of two civil servants, abusive inter-service transfers, non-payment of overtime allowances, and dirty work bonuses for the benefit of all union members. It will also be an opportunity to draw the attention of the supervisory department and the competent authorities to the excesses of conduct of certain officials recorded in a number of cities, municipalities, or rural communes, notably Sidi Slimane, Chichaoua, Imintanout, Ait Hadi, among others.

It should be recalled that several measures had been taken last April to improve the administrative, financial, and social situation of civil servants and agents of local authorities.

These measures focused, among other things, on the abolition of scales 1 to 4 and the reclassification of civil servants in this category to scale 5, like state civil servants, the settlement of the situation of civil servants holding a bachelor's degree, as well as the revision of the status of certain civil servants whose situation did not allow them to benefit from promotion prospects.
