International colloquium in Fès on good governance and the training of local elected officials and parliamentarians

"Good governance and the training of local elected officials and parliamentarians" is the theme of an international colloquium that will be organised on 25 and 26 January in Fès, at the initiative of the Sud Nord centre.

Planned in partnership with the Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University and the wilaya of the Fès-Boulemane region, this two-day colloquium will deal with the importance of training local, territorial, and parliamentary elected officials to ensure good governance and good management of local and national affairs.

This meeting, which will bring together a plethora of Moroccan and foreign experts and university researchers as well as associative actors, aims to raise awareness among elected officials about the mechanisms for fighting corruption, as an endemic evil and a brake on development, and to deepen their knowledge in terms of managing local and national affairs.

The programme of this colloquium will be articulated around several major axes, namely "latest legislative developments," "urban planning and local development," "accounting and taxation," "mastery of local finances," "skills management," "information and communication technologies," and "communication, territorial management, and public policies."

The colloquium also aims to expose the methodology of the development, execution, and monitoring of national and local budgets.

Initiated in collaboration with the Fès-Boulemane region, the City Council, and the Hanns Seidel Foundation, this colloquium is intended for new local and territorial elected officials but also for people who have already exercised a communal or parliamentary mandate.
