Strengthening cooperation with regional partners

The council of the Fès-Boulemane region, meeting on 21 May in an ordinary session, examined and approved the items on the agenda. These include the approval of the minutes of the council session for the month of last January, the reallocation of resources to accelerate the realisation of projects already launched by the Council, and above all the validation of several partnership agreements with the main regional actors, aimed at the realisation of economic development projects, the improvement of the living conditions of the inhabitants of the region, as well as social and cultural entertainment.

The first agreement, concluded between the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fès and the regional council of Fès-Boulemane, aims at the development of education and research in scientific, technical and human and social science fields. Within the framework of this agreement, the council of the Fès-Boulemane region undertakes to contribute an amount of 50 million DH for the realisation of projects of common interest, including the organisation of scientific conferences, the preparation of specialised studies, the evaluation of experiences and the organisation of cultural and sporting activities. As a reminder, the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fès should be operational in October 2015. With a projected investment of 1 billion DH, its mission will be the transmission of knowledge and development in the fields of social sciences and engineering. As for the second agreement concluded between the council of the Fès-Boulemane region and the Association of "Immouzer Kandar Festivals", it aims to strengthen cooperation between the two parties to organise the next editions of the National Festival of Immouzer Kandar Apples and set up parallel activities, with the aim of giving a boost to the local economy, through the development of the agricultural and tourist sectors.

The protection of children and youth in the Fès-Boulemane region, particularly orphans and abandoned children, was at the heart of the third partnership agreement concluded between the council of the Fès-Boulemane region and the "Badaïl" association for childhood and youth. By virtue of this agreement, the regional council undertakes to financially support the activities and projects of the "Badaïl" association with a sum of 50,000 DH. Other draft agreements, notably in the environmental, cultural and sporting fields, were also validated during this ordinary session of the council of the Fès-Boulemane region. Note that the revenues recorded in the budget of the council of the Fès-Boulemane region for the 2013 financial year amount to 70 million DH against 66 million DH, during the previous financial year, i.e. an increase of 6%. Concerning the expenses of the first part of the budget relating to management, they amount to more than 34.84 million DH, which represents 49% of the 2013 budget expenses. The equipment expenses, for their part, are estimated at 35,514,800 DH, i.e. 51% of the total 2013 budget. This amount is reserved for the upgrading of vital sectors such as public roads, agriculture and rural development, public health, tourism, culture and education as well as the environment.
