HRH Princess Lalla Salma presides over the opening of the 19th Fez Festival of World Sacred Music

Upon her arrival at the historic Bab Al Makina square, the venue for the ceremony, HRH Princess Lalla Salma reviewed a detachment of the Auxiliary Forces that rendered honours, before being greeted by the Minister of the Interior, Mohand Laenser, and the Minister of Culture, Mohamed Amine Sbihi. HRH Princess Lalla Salma was then greeted by the Wali of the Fès-Boulemane region, Mohamed Dardouri, the President of the "Esprit de Fès" Foundation, the President of the Council of the Fès-Boulemane region, the commander of the garrison, the president of the prefectural assembly, the president of the Méchouar Fès-Jdid commune, the Director General of the "Esprit de Fès" Foundation, as well as by the members of the organising committee of this 19th edition of the Festival. Subsequently, Her Royal Highness followed the inaugural show of the Festival under the theme "Love is my religion", a poetic fresco of the history of Andalusia through dances, songs, poetry, music, and filmed projections. The Fès Festival of Sacred Music celebrates this year, from 7 to 15 June, the Andalusian culture which, for more than eight centuries, knew how to combine Amazigh, Arab, Iberian, Roman, and Visigothic culture and bring together in a single crucible the cultures of the East and the West, according to the "Esprit de Fès" Foundation which organises the event. After the official opening ceremony, events will follow one another until next Saturday at the historic sites of the city (Bab Al Makina, Dar Mokri, Dar Adiyel, Place Bab Boujloud, and Jnane Sbil), with a rich programme of concerts hosted by artists, bearers of messages of peace and spirituality, who have come from all four corners of the world, notably from Mongolia, Greece, Turkey, Mauritania, Spain, Lebanon, India, Martinique, Egypt, Algeria, Bhutan, Portugal, Syria, Palestine, the United States, France, and Morocco. The Festival will offer the general public free concerts, exhibitions, Sufi evenings, pedagogical animations, as well as artistic activities. Also on the programme is the Forum "A soul for globalisation", the unmissable annual meeting of intellectuals, artists, and politicians of the world, on the theme "New Andalusias: local solutions for a global disorder".
