Sidi Mohammed Ben Abdellah University (USMBA) of Fes, the organising body of the Fes International University Theatre Festival (FITUF), has just launched a call for applications for participation in the 10th edition of this event, scheduled from the 5th to the 9th of May.
National and international theatre troupes wishing to take part in this cultural event are invited to send their application files, duly signed by the university president, accompanied by a recording of the play in competition, before the 15th of March, which is the strict deadline, according to a statement from the USMBA. The FITUF, an annual cultural event par excellence and a platform for promoting creativity, education in citizenship, and human rights, aims, among other things, to contribute to the establishment of a platform bringing together dozens of student-actors of various nationalities to forge cultural and artistic relationships. As usual, this university festival sees the participation of a plethora of Moroccan and foreign theatre troupes and the awarding of numerous prizes, including the festival's grand prize.
The FITUF aims to exchange points of view between artists and actors, share experiences and expertise, and debate other issues relating particularly to theatrical creativity. The FITUF programme also includes conferences and debates on various aspects of theatrical art, led by academics and playwrights, training workshops on directing, scenography, and physical expression, in addition to ceremonies in tribute to artistic figures.
The previous edition of the FITUF saw the participation of a dozen theatre troupes from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, the Sultanate of Oman, Ivory Coast, the Central African Republic, Sudan, Palestine, and Qatar, in addition to the host country, Morocco.
