Arabic calligraphy in all its states in Fès

Initiated by the "Le Caméléon des arts plastiques" Association in partnership with the regional delegation of culture, this artistic event aims to safeguard the sublime art of Arabic calligraphy and to introduce young and old to take a liking to this beautiful writing, to use it, and to perfect it. This festival, which will see the participation of a galaxy of calligraphers and professionals of the art of beautiful Arabic letters, also tends to discover young talents in the field, to encourage the spirit of creativity among students, and to preserve the local heritage of Arabic calligraphy. This event, which will take place at the Mohammed El Kacimi gallery, includes an exhibition of Arabic calligraphy and open workshops dedicated to the presentation of the techniques of this art of writing, in addition to another workshop combining poetry and Arabic calligraphy, led by the artists Abdellah Hamine and Latifa Mhaouer. It also provides for an Arabic calligraphy competition for the benefit of students from schools and a conference under the theme "The place of Moroccan calligraphy among Arabic calligraphies: history and beauty," led by numerous researchers, including Mohamed Sabri, Mohamed El Meghraoui, and Issa Boudouda. The 2nd edition of the Fès International Arabic Calligraphy Festival will also pay tribute to the Moroccan calligrapher Mohammed Maâlmine and includes visits to ancient schools and mausoleums containing examples of Arabic calligraphy. Organised in partnership with the urban commune of Fès, the Calligraphy Festival also includes cultural activities and artistic evenings. The 1st Fès International Arabic Calligraphy Festival had been initiated under the theme "Arabic calligraphy: a dazzling art." Its programming included several thematic workshops, focusing in particular on "Moroccan calligraphy and Arabic calligraphy," "Kufic calligraphy," and "Modern techniques at the service of Arabic calligraphy," as well as conferences on "Moroccan calligraphy: an artistic and urbanistic factor" and "The genesis of Moroccan calligraphy."
