Professional theatre in the spotlight

The 9th edition of the Fès International Festival of Professional Theatre will take place from 11 to 16 October, on the theme "Theatre, a bridge for rooting the values of peace and tolerance". Several theatrical performances will be given by professional Moroccan and foreign troupes during this unmissable cultural event intended to further develop theatrical practice and share experiences between professionals. The professional theatre festival provides a rich and varied programme and numerous prizes, including the festival prize, the prize for theatrical text, directing, scenography, and the best actor and actress. Participation in this artistic competition is open to professional theatrical associations and troupes, Moroccan, Arab, and foreign. Like previous editions, the Fès International Festival of Professional Theatre aims to strengthen cultural animation within the city, to initiate a proximity theatre for the general public, and to encourage the emergence of new talents and new quality theatrical productions. The 8th edition of the Festival had seen the participation of several theatrical troupes from Morocco and abroad who presented a dozen plays interpreted with talent. Thematic conferences on "the values and principles of human rights in Arab theatrical writing" and "the role of theatre in the protection of the cultural rights of marginalised categories and remote regions", led by researchers and professionals, were also initiated on the sidelines of this meeting. The previous edition of the Fès International Theatre Festival was marked by a vibrant tribute paid to Moroccan playwrights, in addition to artistic workshops and other cultural activities.
